Washing
• Hand wash is best: Use lukewarm water (not exceeding 30°C/86°F) with a mild liquid detergent.
• If machine washing:
o Turn the garment inside out.
o Place it in a mesh laundry bag.
o Select gentle/delicate cycle with cold water.
o Use a mild wool-safe detergent (avoid fabric softener—it can cause pilling).
Avoid Friction
• Wash acrylic knitwear separately from rough fabrics such as jeans or towels.
• Do not overload the washing machine; too much friction leads to pilling.
Never wring or twist
• Gently press out excess water using your hands or lay the garment flat between towels and press to absorb moisture.
Drying
• Reshape while damp to maintain structure.
• Always lay flat to dry on a clean towel.
• Keep it away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators) which can distort fibers.
• Do not tumble dry — heat causes shrinking and increases pilling.
Preventing Pilling
• Turn inside out before washing and wearing.
• Avoid rubbing against handbags, seat belts, or coarse surfaces.
• Use a fabric shaver or depiller occasionally to remove light surface pills before they build up.
Storage
• Fold, don’t hang — hanging can stretch the knit and affect shape.
• Store in a cool, dry place.
